Tower: Cute and works, but design flaws

The built product is really cute and works for our needs. It would be nice to have a slightly larger version for the larger cats.

One issue we had is a plastic dowel broke while putting this together. I had to drill the broken portion out and use a dowel from one of the outside shelves (no additional dowels were provided - it would be good to have at least an extra 1 or 2 just in case). The first night, the middle shelf (where I had to drill) fell when the cat jumped inside; another dowel snapped in half. I hope one of our other cats weren’t below that one as it could have really hurt them.

I left the broken dowel (did not drill it out this time) and had to reinforce the 2 middle shelves with additional screws (6 just in case) from the outside.

May be metal or wood dowels are better as the plastic is weak and brakes. Plus, additional support within the design for the middle shelves would be VERY helpful for heavier/larger cats and safety in general.
